Standardized Testing

Why, oh why must we be put through these treacherous, terrible, torturous tests? Going to public schools has a great downfall. Despite the cheap education and freedom that one gets at a public school, we must suffer through what has to be the most boring time of year. That's right, the time of year where we take standardized tests. This year, I was forced to take not one, not two, but three of these three hour long tests. Though they are extremely simple (this can sometimes contribute to the pain we students feel)they are simply too much boredom to bear. In a reading comprehension test(yes, reading comprehension of the very language we speak) some of this years' passages included off-gassing, the growing, harvesting, and use of cloves, and a girl telling of her school choir getting honorable mention at a singing competition. These painfully boring passages, paired with their poorly worded, yet simple questions can make for a terrible way to spend the day. But wait! That's not all, not only are there multiple choice questions to savor in, but short answer and extended response. These are the terribly pointless writing prompts with topics such as identifying a simile in the story and writing about it. Oh, the horrors of these tests. *(sarcastically)* I would just love to thank the government for giving me this opportunity to be tortured and abused for the good of discovering how well a teacher teaches. Thank you, really, I am just so happy that I get to take these each and every year! I am terribly sad that I no longer get to take them this year.
